Housekeeper, Residence Complex - Facilities Management, Finance

Position Overview

Residence Services is currently seeking forty (40) Temporary Recurring Part-time Housekeeper(s) for approximately five months starting in the middle of April.

Position reports to the Housekeeping Lead Hand, Housekeeping Coordinator or Housekeeping Manager. Peak periods occur throughout the months of April to September.  Work hours may be extended periodically as there are time pressures for turning over the work during the end of April and the end of August.
This position requires standing, sitting, walking, lifting, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, learning, problem solving, and interacting with others throughout the workday. Regular attendance is essential.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Full range of cleaning duties for all rooms, including washrooms, hallways, stairwells, building entrances and elevator areas; ex: to clean (sweep, strip, dust, scrub, mop, wash or vacuum), polish or wax floors, carpets, walls, windows, woodwork, furniture and equipment in all Residence Facilities, including offices, dining rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, rest rooms, showers, residence halls, guest rooms, public spaces, conference rooms, corridors, entrances, exterior walkways as well as building fixtures and to clean plumbing fixtures
  • Collect and dispose of trash, recyclables and other wastes
  • On occasion, move or assist in moving, office furniture and equipment
  • Provide washrooms with soap, paper products and other necessary supplies
  • Observe and report unusual situations on property and grounds
  • Operate buffers, wet/dry vacuums and floor scrubbing machines, carpet extractors and pressure washers (with proper orientation)
  • Wash and hang drapes, Venetian and vertical blinds
  • Wash, dry and fold towels; to collect, separate and dispose of recyclable materials
  • Report on safety issues and the need for maintenance repairs
  • Wash interior and exterior window
  • Stock supply closets based on need
  • Clean and maintain tools and equipment after use
  • Regular communication with the Residence Life staff regarding cleanliness concerns
  • Communicate move out procedures to the residents
  • Assist the Housekeeping Coordinator with an inspection of the Residence Complex once a semester

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • High School graduation diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Understanding of and experience with cleaning products and machinery
  • Builds good working relationships and demonstrates the ability to work successfully as part of a team
  • Proven ability to provide resident centered customer service
  • Demonstrates efficiency in completing tasks while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
